TrustEd Future Blekinge – young voices in the local community

What happens when students get to try out journalistic methods, with the local newspaper by their side? In TrustEd Future Blekinge, schools, school libraries and Blekinge Läns Tidning (BLT) work together to strengthen young people’s reading, writing and participation in society.

Ongoing

In the project, lower and upper secondary students try out journalistic methods: finding news, writing opinion pieces, checking sources and interviewing. Those who want to can publish their articles for a real audience on Mobile Stories.com. The students work with the educational tool Mobile Stories Newsroom, with support from teachers, school librarians and the Voice4You team. Throughout the project, students and teachers can also propose articles for publication in BLT.

The project runs from October 2026 to March 2028 and has three focus areas: democratic participation, reading and writing, and media and information literacy.

During the project, students can take part in two rounds of Unga Journalistpriset (the Young Journalist Award), which BLT runs a local version of. The competition gives students a goal and a chance to have their work recognised. The jury consists of representatives of Unga Journalistpriset and BLT, and the awards are presented in January.

A model for more

The aim of TrustEd Future Blekinge is to show how local media and schools can work together over the long term for education and democracy. The experience will make it easier for more schools and local media to work in the same way.

The project is run by Voice4You together with Blekinge Läns Tidning and is funded by Stiftelsen Barometern.
